Conservation storytelling

for impact.

Conservation storytelling through film. We work with conservation organisations to create films that communicate their work, engage audiences, attract funding, and inspire action.

Let’s create something meaningful together.

Stories of conservation in action.

Spilt Tea Films is a conservation storytelling studio working with organisations, filmmakers, and projects across the natural world. We believe film is most powerful when it connects people to real conservation work in action.

Our name reflects a simple idea: that moments of change can reveal new ways of seeing the world.

Through film and the Edinburgh Conservation Film Festival, we create and champion stories that deepen understanding of conservation and encourage meaningful engagement with the natural world.

We produce:

  • conservation campaign films

  • short documentary storytelling

  • field-based impact narratives

  • audience engagement content for NGOs and projects

Our focus is simple, turn real conservation work into compelling stories that deliver clarity, connection, and impact.

Our Approach.

Conservation storytelling with purpose

We focus on stories that are:

Human-led. Conservation is about people. We centre our stories on the individuals, communities, and teams behind the work.

Grounded in real action. We highlight projects that are actively shaping positive environmental outcomes.

Well-crafted and engaging. Strong storytelling matters. We prioritise clarity, pacing, and emotional connection.

Positive and honest. We acknowledge environmental challenges, but focus on the response to these challenges, the progress being made, and the possibilities the future holds.

Why work with us.

We understand conservation from the inside out.

Spilt Tea Films is led by a conservation biologist and filmmaker, combining scientific understanding with cinematic storytelling.

This means we don’t just document conservation work, we understand it.

We help organisations:

  • communicate complex projects clearly

  • engage public and stakeholder audiences

  • strengthen funding and outreach narratives

  • translate fieldwork into compelling visual stories
